a couple days late, but happy ramadan people! this year we'll actually spend more than half of the month here, which is pretty awesome. and next year we'll probably be here for eid which means a lot more money than we get when we're all alone in america... and of course being with the family and stuff will be pretty cool too.
anyway, here are the past month's (i think?) formspring questions:
You're writing sounds forced. Like you are trying to use big words and be confusing to sound smart. And you always write the same thing, but just change it a littlw. You should stop trying to be a writer, because you are really bad and its not gonna work.
huh. well, to be perfectly honest, i think so too a lot of the time. thing is, that's not gonna get me to stop writing or posting what i write seeing as it's MY blog and all. the smart, mature thing for you to do would be to just not read what you don't like. the internet is a big place, i'm sure there's something better for you out there. but why do that when you can send anonymous hate messages, right?
oh, and for future reference: you're means you are, and its is the possessive form.
i wanna know who asked you about someone special.. probably the anonymous commenter..and i have no idea what A&A building you're talking about..
i dunno who asked.
and are you serious?? it has two giant red A's on it, and you have to pass it when you leave our house to go anywhere further into the city. i'm positive you know it.
LOL you're an idiot.. well guess what Hamza doesn't miss you.. he only misses A&A..
theres a building with a big red A&A on it here. you know the one?? that's what your comment reminded me of.
Is there some1 special in your life?
uh yeah... me.
Write about a serious time that seems funny in hind sight.
http://todefineistolimit.blogspot.com/2010/07/look-at-this-photograph-every-time-i-do.html
how much do you miss Hamza?
more than i do you.
yes i meant the formspring format....i liked the old format better.
i did too at first, but i'm used to the new one now.
Favorite piece of writing by Sylvia Plath?
gah i answered this twice and both times the connection ate my answer. here's a short version that i will fix later, maybe. poem: mad girl's love song. novel: the bell jar. other: her complete journals.
did the format change on its own or did you change it?
format of what exactly?? formspring changed a while ago on its own if that's what you mean. my blog hasnt changed in a year so i'm pretty sure that's not it.

look at this photograph. every time i do it makes me laugh.
i've been useless at everything this summer, and that includes blogging. so i'm going to ignore the fact that i only wrote nine posts this month (a few of which shouldn't really even count) and expand a formspring question's answer into a post. okay? okay. so anonymous asked me to write about something serious that seems funny when i look back on it. i'm just going to go with the first thing that popped into my head. if you were with me in high school, especially in my AP History class, then you can probably just skip this post and hope that i write something else in the next day or two.
we started out junior year with Dr. Donald Senese as our AP History teacher. he was a really awesome, totally over-qualified man. google him and see for yourself. (or just be a lazy bum and click here.) anyway, sometime during october i think, we were supposed to have a chapter test. we get to class and wait for him to show up, which he doesn't. a substitute comes in, acting really weird. i don't remember exactly, but i think she passed out the test before she told us anything. anyway, a little into the period, we are told that our teacher had a heart attack while driving the night before and had died before he got to the hospital. there's a moment of shock and then we all start crying. for the rest of the day, the five of us from the class would barely talk to anyone, we would get into arguments with other teachers who weren't as upset over his death as we felt they should be, we would slam lockers, shed tears, and a bunch of other things to show how deeply mournful we were over this man who we had known for a little over a month's death. we went to his wake a few days later and met his family. we then decided that we should do something for his wife and somehow came up with the idea of making her a build-a-bear of senese. don't ask me how or why. anyway, we never actually got around to making her the bear, but the idea stayed in our head.
after his death and before they could find a replacement for him, we had a temporary teacher, Mr. Kern. we loved him... he was an amazing teacher. he stayed with us for about a month before leaving us to Mr. Rodgers (who needs an entire series of posts to himself if i were to attempt to do justice to the hilarious memories i have of this man. suffice it to say that the week before the AP exam we were coloring buffaloes in class). anyway, after kern left us to continue his job as vice principal of the boys' school or something, we made him the mr. senese bear and gave it to him. one of my friends even wrote "help us!" on the box to properly convey how much we missed having him teach us. he left us a note thanking us for the bear and saying it sat on his mantle, but i think we scared him with our obsessiveness. i'm pretty sure he avoided all of us after that.
anyway, going through that whole ordeal seemed dramatic at the time, but whenever i think back on it i can't help but laugh at all of us.
(and i had a better title for this thing but i cant for the life of me remember the song and google isn't helping.)

flicker flicker dim and fade to black
i forgot that i could use formspring answers as a way to pretend i am blogging! so here are the answers. that song in the title, yeah it's kinda stuck in my head in case you were wondering. oh, and i finished nightwatch a few days ago. it was one of my first supernatural stories where the vampires didnt sparkle and i liked it. the vampires and shapeshifters and supernaturalness isnt the main plot of the story which i really liked. i always felt vampire books were centered around a plot of "oh look a vampire!" and then they just went from there.
What household chore do hate to do the most?
folding clothes is the bane of my existence.
india or germany?
i'm guessing these questions are about the world cup, right? if so, i'm very apathetic about the whole thing.
if you're just asking in general, then germany is on my list of places to visit before i die.
us vs england?
umm neither? both? i dont care?
What's the oldest piece of clothing you still own and wear?
i have a couple of tshirts from fourth grade that i still wear.
If you were offered the job of U.S. president would you take the job?
definitely not.
What was the last book you read?
The Year of the Locusts, but i'm nearing the end of Nightwatch.
What was your favorite book as a child?
walter the lazy mouse.

tell me all your secrets and i'll tell you all of mine
If you could go back in time 10 years and tell your younger self something, what would it be?
that the whole "you can do anything you want...anything is possible" is a lie, at least for someone with my circumstances. not in a depressing way, more in a just-accept-it-young-so-you're-less-disappointed-later kind of way. it wouldve made things a lot easier.
If you could get anything to appear before you right now, be it food, an object, or a person, what would it be?
i've been saving this question in hopes of coming up with an answer, but i honestly have no idea what i want. :/
i'm kinda thirsty, so a vitamin water zero?
If your life was a story, what type of character would you be?
i should probably say the heroine, but if that were true than this must be one boring story. i'd like to say the villain because they get some of the best scenes and lines and everything. but at the moment, i'm probably the added 2d character inserted for occasional comic relief and for coincidences to move the plot along for other characters.
What are you doing?
right now? answering formspring questions and eating black licorice. five minutes ago, though, i was watching The Outsiders: The Complete Novel.
Preference: hands or feet?
hands.
Preference: tan or pale?
generally tan, but there are always exceptions.
Why did you study computers and not writing?
several reasons: one, it's obviously the more practical choice of major. two, i really do think it's interesting. three (and probably the most significant), the embassy people wouldn't pay for it.
What's the best place near you to get a drink?
the kitchen.
What are you most excited about right now?
august 24. it cannot come fast enough. for those of you not cool/smart/awesome enough to be looking forward to this day, it is the day of the release of BOTH mockingjay and LOST complete series on DVD.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
an author, an artist, and a farmer.
chronic constipation vs. chronic diarrhea?
i think they pretty much suck equally.
If you could be on one TV show which one would it be?
i was going to ridicule this question because of it's oh so obvious answer, but then i saw the ONE and got stuck. i'm going to pretend "one" is really "two" and go with LOST and Gilmore Girls. how could i possibly choose between the two?
If you could have been the author of any book, what would it have been?
hmm... that's a hard one. i actually don't think i would want to be the author of any of my favorite books because i would so much more critical about them. i'd rather write something new myself and have that published.
do u really thing youre smarter then me? i dont believe that, prove me wrong on here http://bit.ly/bwh0je
umm i don't know you, but judging by the fact that you can't tell the difference between 'then' and 'than' i'm going to have to say yes, yes i am.
global warming - a theory or reality?
reality in the sense that the climate is changing and we probably are destroying the environment quite a bit, but i also think that a lot of climate change should just be chalked up to nature. it's happened before, it'll happen again.
Want to spice up that special evening? http://tinyurl.com/free-victorias-secret-giftcard
umm not particularly, no.

it's better to say too much
so according to my blog and formspring, the last time i posted my formspring answers were six weeks ago. for those of you that dont realize what this means, this means that my original decision to post answers every week has been ridiculously ignored. but because i have a million drafts from the last couple of days that all end midsentence, and i am just trying to waste time after the amazingness that is LOST and before we watch a movie and dont really feel like finishing those, i have decided to post the answers for the past month and a half.
don't you think razan is a bit full of herself.. sheesh! :P
haha nopee.
how much do you love razan?
more than life itself.
Btw... can't comment at all on your posts... makes me sad
that was weird. glad you can comment now. :)
Regarding your post on epilogues, I must say I agree in some respects but disagree in others. I personally use epilogues to almost detour from the story, sometimes hinting at what happens next. It isn't a direct part of the story, so has to be separate.
i already commented on this on my blog, but yeah some epilogues do work. i dont really hate allll of them.
What songs/bands are you currently/recently listening to?
i have been having a new music dry spell (i really need a downloading day), so i've basically just been listening to all my old music on shuffle. the main bands are (in no particular order) maroon 5, the killers, the hush sound, the script, relient k, blue october, the beatles, snow patrol, and a bunch others i can't remember off the top of my head. individual songs are way too many to list. nothing in particular has been on repeat for the past couple of weeks, though.
What are some books in your amazon cart at the moment?
well, i just bought my cart yesterday, but the items i have "saved for later" include: the thorn birds and tim (2 different books) by Colleen McCullough, a bunch (all?) of Chuck Palahniuk books, the portable dorothy parker which has been sitting there for a couple of years now, i capture the castle which has also been in there for years, and the seducer's diary by Soren Kierkegaard among others.
what would be the perfect gift for somebody to get you? (something that was actually attainable)
you can never go wrong with books or chocolate because you can never have enough of either. i have a list of books i'm trying to limit in my amazon cart, any of those would be beyond awesome. but i love anything and everything.
what object from your childhood do you wish you still had?
you asked me this before, and i still don't have an answer. i still have most of my favorite things in the attic somewhere. i'll think about it though.
What's the best birthday cake you've ever seen/eaten? by LujainAl
hmm... best as in taste or look?? homemade or storemade?? my sister made my cake in the shape of the beauty and the beast castle last year (or tried) which was awesome. i think the cakes i saw of your family's are some of the prettiest i've seen.
Where do you stand on juice boxes? by LujainAl
being so small, i don't think you have a choice but to stand on the whole thing. *cringes* now that i've gotten that corniness out of my system, i think juice boxes are awesome... except for the fact that they rarely have enough juice to quench my thirst.

listen, do you want to know a secret?
so i think the last time i posted any formspring answers was a month ago, which may be because my formspring kind of died. feel free to revive it. anyway, here they are:
ice water.
(Answer to the previous question) or soft drink?
hmm if it's with a meal, then a soft drink, but i stopped sodas for a while and have just recently started redrinking them occasionally.
Tea or coffee?
tea at home, coffee out.
Is that your hand in the I write picture?
no i actually got that picture off of google.
If you could change one thing that happened last year what would it be?
i'm one of those people that wouldn't change anything at all that happened because of the whole butterfly effect and all that stuff. i dont know when i became like this, but i am. so to answer your question, nothing. i would change absolutely nothing.
Least favorite word?
rural, because i could never pronounce it and always feel stupid saying it.
Drown in a pool of chaotic love or solitary contentment?
hmmm... i think solitary contentment while reading about chaotic love.
If you could only watch one TV show what would it be?
LOST
What was your favorite birthday gift?
i actually always get awesome gifts (for whatever occasion) or maybe i'm just really easily pleased. the top ones that come to mind though are the gilmore girls series from my older sister and my ipods (mom and younger sister). but really, i dont think ive ever gotten a gift that i didnt really like. my sisters on the other hand, have gotten some hilarious crap from people.
Sneakers or sandals?
sneakers... and flip flops.
What did you eat for breakfast today?
frosted shredded wheat.

please ask me what you want
because i cant remember the last time i posted these, here are last week's (?) formspring answers. ask/comment/suggest into that little box on the left and i'll answer.
eclectic.
What's your favorite drink?
lemonade. in all forms and flavors.
Out of everyone, why Elizabeth Bennet?
at first i thought of a harry potter character, but i'd wanna end up with sirius and since he is a terminal bachelor, that didnt work out. i thought about katniss, but the whole hunger games thing wasnt too appealing. i thought maybe scarlet for rhett but he leaves her, so no. next to come to mind was the princess in enchantment, and i forgot why i changed my mind about her. then i decided i wanted to live in the victorian era and the first two characters that popped into my head were jane eyre and elizabeth bennet. i chose elizabeth. it really had a lot to do with the first books that popped into my head that day. plus, she has mr. darcy. who wouldnt want that?
Wat is your favorite blog?
i dont really have one favorite blog. the ones i follow can pretty much count as my favorites, though. i check sound of silver, spectacularities, and procrastination at its best daily. besides those, i guess my favorites from the ones i follow (in abc order) are: [carrotspeak.], Nat The Fat Rat, Shocked and Appalled, and The Rest is Still Unwritten.
If you could become any fictional character, who would you be?
just one? :/
i guess elizabeth bennet from pride and prejudice.
Name three dreams, two fears, and one hope. by albutol
dreams: become a published author, travel the world, go into space
fears: failure, death
hope: i don't fail out of grad school.
If you had to choose between your hearing and your sight, which would it be? by albutol
that's a hard one. i guess hearing, though. i've already seen a lot so i can imagine stuff if i suddenly lost my sight. i could picture descriptions that people gave me and it'd almost be like i was seeing. hearing, though, is different. i couldnt imagine the sound of music (just reading lyrics loses half the experience) or the cadences of a person's voice or really anything.
What is your favorite shape? by albutol
i like circles, but i dunno if i'd call them my FAVORITE. diamonds and pentagons, too.
Is white or black the absence of color? by albutol
black is the absence of all light.
white is the presence of the entire color spectrum.
so... neither?? or maybe black...
If you could live in a song, which would it be? I know decisions are difficult for you so a list will be accepted :) by albutol
i'm going with assumption that you meant the story the song told, and not the voice/melody/whatever. i also refused to choose more than one song from a band, so know that some are picked almost randomly from an album. anyway, here's my very much revised list (i honestly dont know why some of them appeal to me so much):
chocolate - amy kuney
at the bottom of everything - bright eyes
hands down - dashboard confessional
black sandy beaches - the dear hunter
99 red balloons - goldfinger
slide - goo goo dolls
we intertwined - the hush sound
dark blue - jack's mannequin
chase this light - jimmy eat world
romeo and juliet - the killers
tire swing - kimya dawson
fast car - kristian leontiou
the sun - maroon 5
time to pretend - mgmt
teleport a and b - the spill canvas

i'll tell you what you wanna know
here are last week's formspring answers (except for one that i still need to answer). if you wanna say something yourself, see who asked what, or check when each thing was answered (if you're weird or something), then click on that link up there.
probably ninjas, but i'd be on the pirates' side.
If you could live in a memory, which would it be?
that is an impossible question to answer. can't i have like a memory time machine and just go memory hopping?
If you could choose, how would you die?
happy.
If you had to throw away either your TV or your computer, which would you choose?
tv. you can watch everything online now anyway.
Who was your first crush?
real person crush? Blake or Blair or something from my second/third grade combo class. i was in second, he was in third. all i really remember about him now is that he had brown hair and liked amanda white (another third grader). needless to say, i was not amanda's biggest fan.
my first celebrity/fictional character crush was aladdin.
If you could hang out in someone's head, who would it be?
hmm... i cant choose one person because my brain lacks decision making capabilities, but maybe one of my favorite authors? they'd have interesting heads. or someone who was absolutely sure - of what they were doing, who they were, or whatever. just to, you know, see what it feels like.
What's your favorite quote from a person you know?
i just know there are so many that i cant even think of one. people i know say pretty profound things.
Can you make up a three line short story, right now?
As the dust settled, dulling the brilliant scarlet spreading like a halo around his head, he finally accepted what he had known all along. Every doubt, every moment of insecurity that he ignored had been trying to tell him this very thing. Love, trust, and happiness that are the basis of every fairy tale translate into nothing more than cruel means of torture, loneliness, and painful deaths in reality.
guess i'm not in the most optimistic mood today.
What is your favorite childhood bedtime story?
i dunno i remember my mom would whisper short stories into our ears at night that would tickle. if those dont count then good night moon.
what do you remember the most from highschool?
the red and purple binders/the story, ceramics class, playing dots in the back of math class, APs, threats to kick everyone out of nhs for plagiarism, the principal saying she wished we were never born at our tea party to our parents... i remember almost everything. i loved high school.
where would you wish to travel right now?
i want to backpack across europe.
cookie dough or cookies?
both. cookie dough if i had to choose.
as a kid, shoelaces or velcro?
velcro
what kind of shampoo do you use?
my sister and i cannot commit to a shampoo. at the moment, we're using garnier fructis.
would you rather eat eye crust or toe jam?
gross. is neither not an option??
if i had to choose i guess... um... eye crust
