without the sour the sweet wouldn't taste

[day nineteen: something sweet]

the first thing that came into my head when i read this was a book i read in eighth grade that described an evil lady and her room as having the sickly sweet smell of rot. that description always stuck in my head. for some reason, though, i don't think rot is the kind of thing the challenge meant with this.

so, something else sweet. um... my tired brain is not in the best thinking mood. so i guess my nephew today asking for two crackers so he could share one with me? that's sweet. also, on our walk to take out the trash he blew a kiss to a bee and said bye to him. that's sweet too.

also, ice cream is sweet, and since we've apparently skipped right over winter and spring (sad) and into summer, you should go eat some.

SARAH THANK YOU. that's one thing off the list of 'where did i hear that before.' i use it all the time, and now i think about it i know exactly the scene in the book: when she goes to see the mother of the sultan and she looks like a fat spider in her web :)
(second line i can't remember its origin is that 'every time there's an awkward silence, a fairy dies', but i think i've just about thrown in the towel for that one.)

  5. anon hippo: i thought we were the first class to read it. i feel unspecial. we were the first to use the copies of the actual book, though. which was why i didn't get a copy when mine got lost... they ordered just enough to give us each one. also, photocopying the book is total plagiarism.

r: i use it all the time, too. i thought i was just weird. but yes that is exactly the scene. i feel the fact that it has stayed in our minds for so long means that it deserves to be reread. and omg that second one kills me. like, i really did everything possible to try and find where it's from. while googling it i saw a random person on some random website have it as their favorite quote, and i went as far as making an account so i could message them and ask where it was from. needless to say, they didn't answer the creeper.

lol i know thats why we didn't get to read all the chapters. hahaha it was very annoying because it seemed like a really awesome book :( and mrs. jaghlit (remember her?) was the one that made us read it. the other english classes in my grade didn't read it.

the fairy quote is ANNOYING! because google only brings up a dead yahoo question, your blog posts, and some christian social network thing. :/
the quote reminds me of peter pan though.
